“My teeth are all crooked and I really want to improve their appearance but I really don’t want braces; can I still have a beautiful smile?”

We get this question asked a lot. More than likely, yes. There are times where we have no choice but to resort to both options. If teeth are so misaligned we must first move them gently into position before veneering them. Only with careful analysis of tooth proportions and jaw dimensions are we able to determine that for certain. We have been able to help so many people who had absolutely refused braces without compromising the end result. Braces are not for everyone either. For various reasons sometimes braces would not even be the right choice to make a smile beautiful.

“Everytime I read a magazine, a celebrity is said to have had veneers. Ican see their teeth look nice, but what actually are porcelain veneers?”

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of porcelain bonded over the front surface of the teeth. They are long lasting, stain-resistant and can be a very natural looking restoration. Porcelain is very versatile; it can be used to lengthen, widen and whiten. We customise them personally to you, choosing the exact shape, colour etc.

There’s a whole host of reasons patients may have porcelain veneers. Placed on misaligned crooked teeth they can give the appearance of perfectly straight teeth, they can cover stained, discolored teeth or be applied to whiten and brighten the entire smile. We can bond longer porcelain veneers to worn or chipped teeth to make them look younger and stronger. Or they can be made to match the surrounding existing teeth, too. We would need to see you for a consultation to determine exactly what it was you needed and whether veneers were a suitable option. Book today!

“I have buck teeth that stick out. I was offered braces when I was younger but wasn’t intested at the time. Is there anything that can be done now?!”

Certainly! Sometimes the solution may be as simple as recontouring and reshaping the teeth which can be done very quickly. Other times braces may be required to correct things, these could be traditional fixed braces, lingual appliances or even Invisalign. Cases of buck teeth may also be corrected with porcelain veneers/crowns and in some instances we may to do a combination of repositioning of teeth (with brace work) and then placing some veneers. As each situation is unique, we’ll have a better idea of the answer for you after a consultation. Call or email us to arrange this today!

“I’m in the middle of my invisalign treamtment but cant find the aligner I should be wearing. I took it out to eat and think it may have ended up in the bin! What should I do?”

No worries! These things happen, its definately not the end of the world. There are a couple of options.

Firstly you should not go without wearing an aligner for too long, so the best thing to do is make sure you are wearing the previous alginer to the one you have lost. At least this will maintain the teeth where they are. A replacement aligner can then be ordered, although Invisalign do charge for these.

However! If youre lucky and were nearing the time to change into the next aligner it may be worth seeing if that fits. Although it will be a little tighter, if you can get the next aligner into place move straight into that one. It might hurt your teeth a little, but at least it wont hurt your pocket!!
