How we can help you

This section is for Referring Dentists - not patients.

If you are a patient, please discover 12 Reasons to Choose Us!

If you’re a dentist, and there is something you’d like to ask our opinion on, please complete our online Question form. You will also have the option of uploading photographs and radiographs of the case to accompany your question. If you wish to refer a patient, please select one of the 8 ways we can help you:

Dental Implants

We encourage any practitioners who are interested in becoming involved with implants but with little or no knowledge of them to attend some of your introductory programmes. Simply email or phone the practice to find out more information.

Buckle and McGrath have introduced our very own “Lunch and Learn” programme. There are numerous dentists throughout the UK currently referring to Buckle & McGrath for treatment, particularly dental implants, and felt there may be an opportunity to introduce a new initiative of shared treatment planning where the referring dentist takes an active role in the treatment.

Lunch and learn is a unique initiative, providing you and your team in the comfort of your own practice an insight in to dental implants and their benefits.

The programme is CPD verified and all attendees, (including nurses who are obliged to complete and record CPD with effect from 30 July 2008) will be provided with a certificate with 1 hrs verifiable CPD. This all takes place at your own practice and lunch is provided!

If you are interested email or phone the practice to find out more information.

Endodontics

Buckle and McGrath welcomes referrals from general practitioners who want to ensure their patients receive the very best care in this field. Dr Maurice Levi has over 35 years of expertise in this field and treats all Buckle and McGrath endodontic patients and has been accepting endodontic referrals since 1994. Dr. Levi’s clinical skills and qualifications ensure all patients receive the very best in patient care.

He routinely helps general practitioners with potentially difficult treatments, most commonly root fillings in existing bridgework, post removals and molar root fillings.

Wear Cases

The biggest increase in referrals recently to Buckle and McGrath has been the number of extensive wear cases. Assessment and extensive treatment planning are most important part of treating complex wear cases.

If we can be of any assistance with patients who are continually fracturing teeth, difficulty chewing, TMJ pain or extreme wear please contact the practice.

Loose Dentures

How many of us have patients walking in the door with a bag full of dentures that don’t fit?

As well as replacing missing teeth dental implants can also be used to secure a poorly fitting denture. As a general rule 2-3 implants are used in the mandible and 4-6 for the maxilla. One major advantage of upper implant retained dentures is that we can construct horse shoe shape dentures to free up our patients palate.

Once the implants are integrated it is a simple procedure to attach an existing denture to them or to arrange for a technician to construct a new denture.

Gum Recontouring

More and more dentists are using us to improve the gingival margins of teeth before undertaking cosmetic treatment. This may involve only soft tissue recontouring and/or bony recontouring. We use an Ellman radiolase for soft tissue recontours and a implantmed for bony recontouring.

Final preparation of teeth can be completed usually after 6 weeks of bony recontouring.

Root Coverage

Weather it is an aesthetic or functional need, root coverage is usually completed using either connective tissue graft or free gingival grafts. Alloderm can also be used to increase bulk and increase the amount of supporting gingivae.

Sinus Grafting

As we are all aware one of the challenges with dental implants in the posterior maxilla is the presence of the maxillary sinus. When the upper teeth are removed there is often just a thin wall of bone separating the maxillary sinus and the mouth. As implants need bone to integrate two types of sinus lift procedures may be necessary.

Lateral sinus lift procedure

As a general rule if there is less than 5mm of bone we will perform a sinus graft using the lateral window technique. This involves gaining access to the sinus, elevating the sinus membrane and carefully placing the donor bone to the space created. Several months of healing are necessary before implants are placed. Most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life.

In this case a patient presented with a failing upper right canine and requested implants to replace missing teeth on both sides. A bilateral sinus graft and socket preservation technique was carried out.

6 months after healing, an abundance of bone is in place to support implants.

Inferior sinus lift

If enough bone is present between the upper jaw ridge and the bottom of the sinus to stabilise an implant, sinus augmentation and implant placement can sometimes be preformed as a single procedure.

In this case there is more than 5mm, which usually allows us to perform a sinus lift.
Using Osteotomes, the membrane is moved which allows simultaneous placement of the implants. These implants can be restored after an osseous integration period of approximately 4 months
Flapless Implant Placemant

With conventional treatment you have to wait for your implants to heal before teeth are placed, which can take months. This latest technology allows our patient to have implants placed and their permanent or temporary bridges or crowns to be fitted, all in less than 1 hour!

NobelGuide is a unique system that has lots of advantages over traditional implant treatment. Not only does it reduce the number of visits to your dentist, you also spend less time there. Best of all, there is little or no recovery time after treatment.

Teeth-in-an-hour is the perfect solution for people that have no teeth (or need to have the remaining teeth removed) in either jaw. The process is cutting edge as a CT scan is used with COMPUTER GUIDED software to plan the implant placement and fabricate the final bridge before the surgery is even performed. This computer guided implant surgery allows for minimal intervention, a high degree of safety, and unprecedented predictability.
